iPhone Application Design

What a buzz word. So many people are jumping on the app bandwagon. We have so may calls from our clients thinking they need an iphone app for users to be able to view their website on an a Apple iPhone. This is simply not the case. Apps can be incredibly powerful when used as a promotion tool or offering a service, if they offer something over and above what a traditional website is not able to offer. They are useful for recreating flash based website's and games that the iPhone Safari browser can not display.

Its not widely publicised, but you do not need a native iPhone app to create the user experience that one offers. Using HTML5 we are apple to create web based apps that capture much of the iPhone apps user experience without the extensive limitations Apple place on them. The user experience is almost indistinguishable, they can be used on other mobile platforms and can even have an iPhone app launch icon created on the users iPhone home page screen.
